Community tools for Crypto Unicorns

Please find some shorter Q&As here

by @bengalbuck: This looks great, how soon would the features be available?

Hey there! Thanks a lot! With the current proposal we planned to release everything in 6-week period putting tasks for each milestone in parallel

by @FunBob: As a long time user of your Axie tools, I have big confidence that these features will dramastically help out new and current players. Although have you guys considered instead of tinder, something like “UniMatch” ? I feel like itd feel more friendly

Hi ser! Thank you for such kind words, we would be happy to provide you and other players with value in Crypto Unicorns as well! as for the maning you might be right, we thought UniTinder is more catchy, however its less neutral than UniMatch haha

by @Kice: The proposal is good, can you compare the impact of adopting the proposal and not adopting the proposal on the project?

Thank you so much! Sure, for this we would like to address the basic questions we raised in the Intro section of the proposal. We believe that the tools projected will both enhance the experience and involvement of current players as well as will engage newbies with lesser frictions!
Moreover, we have a huge community of professional axie breeders and guilds and we would love to promote the Crypto Unicorns and tools for it among them so that seems to be an extra marketing value we can contribute with

by @Bahis: Why are you speaking in the past tense for your axie scholars? Did you drop 200+ scholars when the economy saw a slump in Axie? This might sound harsh, but if that is the case I’m not sure of the teams fundamental values are right for this community.

Sure no! Those members of our team who used to manage axie scholarships are still managing them. and those trainers who didn’t decide to give up the game since the axie economy slumped are still playing! Past tense there was only used to deliver our backstory

by @kukurumba: You made tools for AXIE as a gamer, and you made them for yourself first and then monetized them for the whole community. Here you are not a player and just want to make money on what will appear a priori from the same devoted fans as you were in AXIE. The big difference is whether you reward dedicated players or third-party developers.

Hi ser! As we already mentioned in previous reply, most of our team members personally invested in Crypto Unicorns, including making some long-term decisions like RBW staking with 12-month lock-up

so when the game starts there is no chance we won`t be dedicated players just like other community members

Hey there, Timetraveler! We believe this comment to be one of the most consistent for now so would be extremely happy to reply to it!

  1. We would love to build for the upcoming gameplay loops. The features based on the tools proposed (eg shadowcorn pricing analytics or ‘Hot Builds’ feature) are to be developed with no additional cost as part of maintenance. If we speak of some brand new features like PvP analytics for Battle loop, than this might require an additional cost that can be discussed here just like any other initiative!

  2. We have always put the user experience first so there is no doubt we would deliver options to manage branched assets with ease! For instance, it will be possible to make a breeding pool with unicorns from whichever accounts one needs in order to plan the breeds in UniTinder!

  3. With implementing the guides we want not only to make a clear and comprehensive game wiki but also let community members express themselves providing other players with some hints and tips via built-in feedback mechanics! We see that this initiative doesn’t affect the process of exploring the game on your own, it simply gives you the notion of all possibilities you have in there + provides extra opportunities for sharing knowledge between the community members!

  4. For sure you can find alternative for every tool proposed, in other case it would even be strange. But does manual calculating of breeding probabilities or trying to set up the Opensea tools (which actually won’t give you the specifics we do) make actually the most fun of playing the game? we are sure that there are people who love that and we appreciate it because these are the hardcore community members but from global perspective we also should think of the majority of gamers who are much more casual in their behaviour.

  5. Thank you for bringing up the idea of the rarity tool! It was beyond our sight because first of all we projected tools to enhance gaming experience! however, it seems legit so would be happy to explore the options of building it together with other team members!

I am very much for this proposal. I get that some community members are hesitant, but this is less than .1% of our community treasury.

These tools will help onboard new users into the economy and ensure they can succeed. The work you all have done for Axie is exceptional and I think these tools are well worth the price tag.

Treasuries often sit idle because communities are so reluctant to spend. Putting capital to work at such an early stage of the game has a lot more upside than downside imho.

In agreeance with ArtToRich and Illest. Didn’t read any further, but don’t need to. Thank you gamelabs

Thank you so much for responding and taking the time to do so.

Without the game launched and knowing what we need as a community it is hard to agree to a proposal. Maybe you have been able to work with the team and see how things work and how things are presented in game. None of us have yet as far as I know have seen this. So it is very hard to know what is needed in game. I suggest we wait and see what CU gives us upon game launch. During this time we gather feedback. I would suggest soliciting the community during the first few weeks of gameplay and finding out exactly what players need. This could be done through surveys and polls and open requests here in forums. I am aware your company has a strong track record of producing quality tools for players. This excites me to think of you building something for our community. As a brand new project it concerns me to start entering contracts so fast and without anyone playing the game yet. If I was to understand that you have already met with the team and they find it beneficial to build these resources so the team can focus on other more critical parts of game that might change my thinking. As far as I know no one else but the team knows how the game will work yet as things seem to be fluently changing as we approach launch. I really think their could be a win win situation with what you are able to build. My gut feeling says we need a lot more information about the game and a more focused discussion and feedback of what the community would like to have built for player resources. Thank you so much for your time. I would love to see this discussion continue in forums and see every ones feelings and hear every ones needs.

I totally agree with @swmartin19 - the ecosystem funding itself implies the necessity of spending money on the initiatives that are about to promote Crypto Unicorns and build a solid yet not centralized infrastructure around. Generally, developing tools is one of the evident options to do so provided that it helps much both existing and coming players. And the tools proposed by gamelabs team seem to cope with these tasks.

I also love their marketing potential as being an axie tool dev they managed to gather around a big community of breeding enthusiasts who would be definitely interested in joining CU (if they haven’t done that yet  )

So my general point is that we should be more easy going in considering proposals at this early stage and support those people who want to add value to the CU ecosystem. These guys have already proven themselves in axie and they have shown their dedication to the CU investing in it personally so I’d rather support this proposal

User charge、Can be ordered according to individual needs

I’ve asks around and learn that during AxieLabs early inception into the space. It was free and then the project had a subscription package for users to get more data and features out of it.

What made CU different that it had to be paid in advance in order for this plan to get going?

Assuming this is a Signal vote for this proposal. Would AxieLabs be okay to separate that 4 Milestone/Phases into 4 separate proposals?

Assuming if the proposal pass:

Summary
  • Would your DAPP for CU would be free for all to use?
  • Would there be a quick support response from AxieLabs team if something is wrong with the APP.

Assuming if the proposal fails to pass:

Summary
  • Would AxieLabs still launch its APP for CU but with a subscription package for premium users?

I do get your point there and fully agree that we should spend the treasury for useful tools etc. However, I still cannot see how several 100 thousands of dollars are justified.
I have to admit as well, that I wouldnt be that easy on spending the treasury and just giving out money left and right. It should be a very very well calculated decision everytime you do so. Noone in the real world is even giving out a single dollar without doing calculations first, and therefore - at least in my opinion - we should not act any different about the treasury.
So this still stays my main negative point, as I cannot see how 230,000$ are justified right now and keep in mind, that this will very likely be even way more money, probably surpassing 7 digits in the near future. Simply for developing some tools which, as it was already mentioned many times, would probably even be developed by the community for free or for way, way less money.
It would be a completely different story for me if the price in the proposal would be a fraction of the shown one

Hi Gamelabs,
These tools look awesome. Very clean and very appealing but they don’t look like tools that need to be developed before the game has even launched. There is no doubt that the Laguna Games team has done a fantastic job so far and this game could very well be the biggest game of 2022. However dumping large amounts of RBW on the community at game launch could jeopardize the entry of alot of new players.

As others have mentioned this seems like a great stage 2 thing. Once the game has demonstrated that it runs well and the mechanics in game will offer a stable economy this could then be the right time to develop this sort of thing. I know you need to start now so that it’s ready if the game gets huge traction but this either should have been sorted a month ago or needs to be stage 2 after the game play has proven itself.

So for me at this stage is a no.

I really don’t like the direction this is heading. So far the Crypto Unicorns team has done the best job I have seen in any game ever. Not only with incentivizing the community , building a great game, tokenomics that others will be coping for years to come, but also with RBW having no unlocks. Zero investors dumping on us all at the start of the game. Many % of the tokens are locked up. Token unlocks is the first thing many new players will look for when joining the game. As so many have been hurt from token dumps on game launch before. Currently Crypto Unicorns is only getting raving reviews. The masses will come. If we get to many ppl trying to feed off the great work the team and community have done, I believe it hurts us all, over time. These features may be good or even great but at what cost?. Its currently a NO from me. Love you all. Keep building Never stop.

I do feel like it could be a useful tool in the future but the cost seems unjustified at this stage. At this early stage we could wait and see how the game develops organically rather than just splurging that kind of money. I’m sure there will be tools that get developed for free by some of the community members.

I will join the opinion that before the release of the game this money can just be trown and not used well

Proposal update

Dear friends, thanks a lot for active and reasonable feedback that you`ve been expressing across these days. This is really how DAO community should work actually and we were happy to explore both pros and contras towards our proposal! Having analyzed the comment feedback on the forum we came to the following conclusions:

  1. The majority seems to like the overall idea of tools proposed while UniTinder (Milestone 1) seems to be the most anticipated one.

  2. The most popular contra arguments to the very proposal are:

  • its too early to develop these tools;
  • the total RBW cost is too high;
There is also a notable opinion that the proposal should be broken down into smaller ones so that there would be step-by-step implementation.
  1. Based on the community feedback we have modified the proposal:
    a) change Milestone 1 total cost to: 2 000 RBW per month for one year (development + maintenance, incl. adding extra features according to the community needs);
    b) exclude Milestones 2, 3, 4 from the current proposal.

We totally agree that the tools should arise organically as the game develops. However, we also believe that Milestone 1 (UniTinder + browser extension to view genes on the Opensea) to be of great importance since the Day 1 as it helps much in planning breeds that is sure to be one of the key activities of the gameplay. No doubts that it would be very useful both for current players and the new ones. What’s more, we abandoned the idea of fixed cost in favor of month-to-month contributions. This might ensure our long-term interest in the development of the game.

Also we would love to emphasize on several additional benefits we believe to contribute with to the Uni Fam:

  • marketing: our community of axie breeders would be pleased to learn more about CU and dive into its metaverse;
  • community dev support: we would be extremely happy to provide willing community devs with our team’s expertise and capacities to publish their tools on our platform

After all, we are sure that the tools proposed would not steal fun from the gameplay but even enhance it! Following the latest version of proposal, we’d like to ask @darthschmitty13 and CU team to do a Temperature check poll too see whether it fits the expectations of the majority of CU community members

P.S. We also visualized the browser extension to view genes and stats proposed in Milestone 1 to exclude any misconception. This one is definitely needed to buy Unicorns from the market for breeding purposes because genes are not displayed on the Opensea.

I see guys learning from community and coming to a moderate proposal both in terms of content and costs. I’d vote for this one!

from 100k to the same amount of RBW that one guy receives for a system dashboard. seems legit!

Can you be more specific with the exclusion of milestones 2, 3, and 4? There can be 2 meaning of it. First is, you’re excluding the fee from the said milestones already (meaning CU wont be paying you anymore for it and it all comes to the milestone 1 monthly payment for a year)

Second is, aside from the tweaked proposal price of milestone 1, you’re retaining the payment terms for milestones 2, 3, and 4. So what happened is that, CU only save 3,000 RBW from your initial proposal price.

First proposal:
15,000 RBW initial payment + 1,000 RBW monthly payment for 12 months
Total: 27,000 RBW

New proposal:
No initial payment but 2,000 RBW monthly payment for 12 months
Total: 24,000 RBW
(Plus the payment term for milestone 2, 3, and 4)

if the exclusion of milestones 2, 3, and 4 is my 2nd understanding. Payment wise, it is not practical to shell out almost the same amount from your initial proposal price.

TBH, the main issue of the community is the asking price, yet the new proposal only dropped 3,000 RBW compared to the initial proposal.

If your team is too eager to retain the first proposal price, in my opinion the community’s first decision wouldn’t change a lot.

Hi ser! It implies kinda simple meaning: the only tools proposed with this (updated) proposal are those from Milestone 1. We agree that tools from Milestones 2-4 are (a) probably too early to be developed and (b) require some additional discussion in Ideas thread.

All in all, the tools from Milestones 2-4 as well as the corresponding costs are removed from the current proposal. Milestone 1 with the cost of 2000 RBW per month for 1 year is the only one we want to propose for the CU community for now
